…does not always mean that you are wrong and the other person is right.
It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego.
There’s 3 different music festivals I want to go to. And all 3 started ticket sales in April. Gah mothafukn DAMN.
June 24, 25, 26 - Electric Daisy Carnival- $180 (Probably)
August 6 - Hard Summer LA - $60
August 12, 13, 14 - Outside Lands SF - $200
Oh well. 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.
Alright shufflers, I’ll give you another chance. I think what I really need to see to appreciate this dance style is a really really ridiculously good shuffler, and maybe what I’ve seen up to now are newbie shufflers. Anyone that I’ve seen attempt to shuffle just looks so…offbeat. Nonrhythmic. Rigid. Is it supposed to be that way? Someone, please point me in the right direction, show me some videos where I can see what is considered “good” shuffling.
I used to think the same way about tectonik. It looked weird, and usually the same moves were just repeated and it was all in the arms. I think in most videos they just stood in place and moved their arms around. I’ve always felt like dance has to involve your whole body. That’s one of the reasons why tectonik didn’t appeal to me and why shuffling didn’t appeal to me. With Shuffling, they just seemed really focused on foot movements, and the movements I’ve seen so far are pretty generic. But literally overnight, my perspective on tectonik changed completely. This happened a bboy jam where my crew had an exhibition battle with another crew from Ensenada. Apparently, Electro music and Electro dance styles are huge Mexico, so prior to the bboy battles they also hosted tectonik battles. I wish I had taken video or something to show you what I saw but i can only describe it.
Contortion/Flexibility + Waacking + Threading + Glowsticking
And all these dancers brought a level of energy to the floor and used their whole body to accentuate the main movements in the arms. This was the first time I stood back and appreciated this form of dance and watch these kids take to another level that I’ve never seen before.
Shuffling, I’m giving you the same chance.
I always picture myself lounging on a beach somewhere with a bucket full of beers whenever I listen to this mix. Total relaxation.
This is the first house mix that I’ve done and I chose this kind of house music because at the time I was opening up for Get Down OC on thursday nights and it’s the kind of music I was playing and was really familiar with (I still am). I also really like it.
I made this mix because I prefer to listen to songs mixed together. I don’t really like breaks and silences, kills my vibe. I also wanted to be able to share with friends and family what I love to do. Not everyone can make it out and hear me spin. A friend of mine really liked the music I was sharing with her, so this also gave me added incentive to push this out because she wanted a mix.
Download. Listen. Enjoy.
